Senior Product Designer & Digital Content Specialist
Since 2018

As a product designer & digital content specialist for Wayside Publishing® my responsibility is to give the innovative content a place to thrive and to promote the products through captivating visuals. I work collaboratively with editorial teams, vendors, contractors, and more to ensure a seamless print and digital experience for teachers and students. With a focus on functionality and accessibility, my work plays a key role in fostering proficiency. From textbook layouts to back-end content management, my work connects students and teachers to a holistic language learning experience.
After all, design is a language in itself.

Print & Digital Production

Template and Layout Design

As the first step in the production cycle, I focus on textbook template design with an emphasis on accessibility and comprehension. I then create any necessary supplemental graphics and flow content.

ePub Creation

Once the print content is finalized, I then begin the creation of the flexible ePub in Inkling Habitat. This platform allows me to work directly with HTML/CSS to ensure maximum quality when transitioning print content into the digital platform. Once a title reaches completion it is uploaded into the back-end learning management system (Pimcore). The content is then finalized to appear on the front-end - Learning Site®.

Activity Creation & Asset Management

With the print and digital textbooks both created, the final elements to be made are activities and supplemental content for teachers and students to access on Learning Site®. PDF activities are flowed into an established template and turned into interactive forms to allow for flexibility in whether it is printed out or submitted digitally. Online quizzes and activities are created in Pimcore and necessary learning assets (such as audio and video resources) are uploaded and organized in the LMS.

All of these pieces come together to create a seamless print and digital learning experience for educators and students to cultivate a path to proficiency

Learning Site® Interactive Demo

As new Learning Site® updates were being released in time for ACTFL 2019, I spearheaded the production and design of an interactive demo that conference attendees would be able to navigate on a large, touch-screen monitor to learn more about some key features. The final demo is the result of extensive use of UI/UX design methodology including research, wire-framing, and user testing.

French 3 Sample

A cohesive sample of front matter, end matter, and a single unit of learning material that allows school districts and individual educators to see how proficiency based language learning can fit into their curriculum.

Book Covers

A core part of new title development is deciding how to best represent the innovative content through dynamic and engaging cover design. These covers were proposed for Wayside Publishing’s® upcoming releases of a new German series and 2nd Editions of the French and Spanish series.
